Dear KSOE Community,

I hope you've been enjoying the fall season with your 所爱的人, and are looking forward to a prosperous new year. As I reflect on the incredible year we have experienced in 2022, I am moved by the tremendous outpouring of mutual care among our students, 教师, 工作人员, and community partners. We have gradually been able to come together as a community and rekindle our sense of belonging and togetherness through mutual support.

Education has the power to change lives, communities, and even the world. 的 Kalmanovitz School of Education is proud to showcase some of the ways we've helped to build STEM teacher and bilingual elementary and special education teacher pipelines through funded initiatives; similarly, we highlight new collaborations in the Counseling Department to broaden the impact our trainees have on promoting college student mental health.

Over one hundred alumni from the 领导学硕士 program gathered on the Saint Mary’s campus this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this beloved program. Together with 教师 and 工作人员, this joyous reunion of friends and family reflected on their sense of belonging that has endured the test of time.

我们的 Center for Environmental Literacy has kicked off its annual 词汇之河® international competition for young poets and artists. River of Words has fostered a global sense of community and care for the environment for over 25 years through the River of Words Competition. We invite all of our newsletter readers, as educators and parents, to submit entries on behalf of your young authors and artists. Contest submissions will be accepted until January 31st.

As we move into 2023, I am pleased to share that we are developing new and exciting ways to bring us all back together and engage with one another as a community around the educational topics that mean the most to you. 更多的 information about our upcoming listening and learning projects will be available in the new year.

On behalf of the Kalmanovitz School of Education, I hold in my heart, 心, and spirit complete gratitude to all of you for being a part of this community. I wish you a happy and safe holiday season. I hope that the coming weeks bring the opportunity to rest and recenter yourselves as well as connect in joyful holiday celebration with family, 所爱的人, 和朋友.
